EVERGREEN, Colo. (AP) – The Colorado State Patrol says a driver involved in a crash that injured a trooper on Interstate 70 in Jefferson County was going too fast for the conditions.
The State Patrol says Trooper Edward Taylor was sitting in his patrol cal with the emergency lights activated Monday morning on the shoulder of I-70 when an eastbound 1996 Dodge Stratus lost control, went off the road and struck the patrol car.
Taylor was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and was released.
Troopers say 19-year-old Shelbi Vickery of Evergreen was driving the Stratus. She suffered minor injuries. Two children in her car were not hurt. Vickery faces a charge of careless driving causing injury.
