PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO) - Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, the only Democratic candidate running for Colorado Governor, stopped by Palisade Sunday afternoon for a peach tour.

Hickenlooper is working the campaign trail across the state. He says he wants to gauge how businesses are faring, and what Coloradans are most passionate about. He says the most important issue facing the state is getting people back to work.

"I think the main issue all through the state is the economy. I think people want to be able to work our way out of this economy. They also want to make sure we don't spoil what attracted so many people to want to be in Colorado in the first place," says Hickenlooper.

Hickenlooper says every part of the state budget is under water, but he wants to avoid raising taxes. He says he also prides himself in running a positive campaign without bashing his opponents.

Hickenlooper will be in Grand Junction Monday morning to discuss his plans for creating jobs. He'll be at the Mountain Racing Products store on Westgate Drive at 9 a.m.
