CMU BB: Mavericks deliver 27 runs in doubleheader sweep over Cougars

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Colorado Mesa can't be stopped at Suplizio Field. On Friday night they put in 27 runs for a doubleheader sweep over Colorado Christian University.

In game one the Mavericks scores 13 runs on 13 hits, blowing it open in the fourth with 7 runs. Sophomore Tony Audino went 2-for-2, with 1 run and 4 RBI, while teammate Kevin Mitchell scored three runs.

Pitcher Matt Delay got the win. Through five innings he allowed just two runs on six hits. He improves to 5-0 on the season.

Game two went much the same way. Starter Joey Danner lasted all seven innings, giving up one run on three hits.

Offensively, CMU was once again firing on all cylinders. Jordan Liester led the way with a three-run homer. He finished the night scoring three runs and bringing in three.

Kevin Mitchell, Austin Kaiser, and Nate Robertson added to the total each scoring two runs a piece.

The Mavericks improve to 23-0 at home. They play CCU Saturday at 1:00 PM in Grand Valley Baseball Appreciation Day. All tickets are $5.00. Kids in baseball uniforms get in free.
