GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The night started off beautiful, but it took a nasty turn, especially for the Thunderwolves.

It was "Game of Hope" night at the ballpark, a night in which funds from ticket sales are donated to the Relay for Life of Grand Junction.

The game started rough for the Mavs, but despite two runs balked in by pitcher Nolan Snell they were able to claw their way to a tie game at 4-4 in the 4th. That's when the lightning struck.

The teams went into the clubhouse and the game was delayed half an hour, and Mesa was ready and roaring when they came back out onto the diamond.

The offense erupted for 6 runs in the 6th inning and there was no coming back for CSU Pueblo.

The final score was 11-6 CMU. The teams will prepare for a double header on Saturday.
