GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - It took a walkoff home run by Erik Kozel in the bottom of the 8th inning on Saturday night, but the Mavericks found a way to sweep their last regular season series.
After thumping the Orediggers in the first 3 games of the series, game 4 should have followed suit: big Mavs offense, strong Mavs pitching, Mavs win.
It was pretty clear after the third inning that this was a different game. The Mavs lineup had all walked up to the plate, and walked back to the dugout with out a hit.
Going into the bottom of the 7th, they were still there. No hits, no runs. But Tamatoa Demello changed all that with a single, and Jake Kluge nailed the message home with a 3-run homer to tie up the ballgame.
One inning later, Kozel slammed the door shut on the Orediggers.
