South Central Regionals: CMU's season ends

KINGSVILLE, Texas (KKCO) - After an emotionally draining loss Friday night against St. Edwards, Mesa had the tough task of waking up early to fight for their tournament lives against Texas A&M Kingsville.

The Javelinas jumped out to an early lead after a bad hop robbed Nate Robertson of a potential inning-ending double play ball. Travis Laird knocked home James Black with a double, then Ryan Guidry hit a SAC fly to score Matt Perez.

The Mavs outhit the Javelinas 8-6 but were unable to get the all-important hit with runners in scoring position. They fall 3-0, and are eliminated from the tournament.

Texas A&M will play again on Saturday against the St. Edwards Hilltoppers, and the St. Mary's Rattlers eliminated the Angelo State Rams 7-6 in 13 innings.
