GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The 16th ranked Mavs opened up the first inning with a four run lead, including a home run from Austin Kaiser and a three-run double from Tony Audino. Dixie State answered with five unanswered runs and had the 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.
For the second time in the game, the Mavs had the bases loaded with no outs, but unlike the first shot, they capitalized the second time, as Garrett Carpenter laced one up the middle into the outfield that scored two runs and gave CMU the 6-5 lead. They would add one more run before Dakota Behr came on for his second save of the season.
The Mavs beat the Red Storm 7-5 and complete the four-game sweep.
W: Cody Lahman (1-0)
L: Kody Christoffersen (0-1)
S: Dakota Behr (2)
