GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The best season in Colorado Mesa baseball history came to a close Saturday, and while the Mavs fell one game short of an NCAA national championship, they were welcomed back to Grand Junction Sunday by their loyal fans.

With a police escort from the airport, they arrived at Suplizio Field at about 1:00 PM. Fans were seated behind the first base dugout, but gave a standing ovation for the team as they entered the field.

Coach Chris Hanks and senior outfielder Austin Kaiser addressed the crowed and thanked them for their support.
