CMU Basketball: Lady Mavericks prep for 2013-14 season

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The CMU women's basketball team is back on the courts and ready to get the season rolling. Like any year they've lost some talent in their graduating seniors, but they're excited to move forward and start fresh.

Last year's team left a huge impression. In Taylor Wagner's first year as head coach the women went to the Elite 8 and finished with just two losses to their name, but the 2013-14 Mavericks aren't going to live in the shadows of the past.

They have fresh faces and new leaders ready to step up and make their own impression.

"We have all of our guards back that started on that team last year, and they've got great leadership so far," said head coach Taylor Wagner. "They've worked really hard in the offseason and we're going to see that in their game this year."

"We got a lot of people excited about women's basketball last year, and it's just going to be so much fun to play in our home gym with all the fans that we created last year," said senior Sharaya Selsor. "I'm just really excited about that to continue to promote women's basketball and be an example for the Valley."
