GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The red hot Mesa Mavericks football team will hit the road for a game against the Fort Lewis Skyhawks set for Saturday afternoon.

CMU is currently riding a three-game winning streak and has been unstoppable on defense. They lead the conference with 15 interceptions and rank sixth in the nation in red zone defense. Plus they have leading tackler Jake Edmiston in their possession.

On offense they're coming along at a steady pacer, ready to pick things up this weekend.

"We haven't been turning it over, so even if we haven't been scoring as much we've been winning the field position battle," said head coach Russ Martin. "We've gotten better offensively and last week's second half we started to kind of open up a little bit and hopefully we can continue that this week."
