CMU SB: Mavericks on 10-game winning streak, face rivals on road

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Every season is an opportunity for a fresh start. For Colorado Mesa's softball team, they came into 2014 with some dirt on their shoulder and getting that off will require wins against this weekend's biggest rival - Adams State.

Last year the Mavs got knocked out of the RMAC championship tournament after falling to the Adams State Grizzlies 3-1. Every returning player understands the importance of these next games and knows a rivalry match up on the road is never easy.

Luckily the Mavs are coming in hot. After falling to 2-8 to open the season, they've won ten straight behind strong hitting and even better pitching. On Saturday it'll be a chance to put it all on the line once again.

"We have some bad blood between us, but it's going to be a game," said senior Jessica Severinsen. "It's going to be the game of the year I feel like, between us two. So we have some unfinished business between us two, so I'm gunning for them."

"RMAC is a fun place to be in because you never know opponents, who you're going to face, what's going to happen, and Adams State is a huge rival for us, and I can't wait to go out there and challenge them," said head coach Candace Abrams.
