GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The 2013 NCAA DII soccer tournament field was announced today and the CMU Mavericks - a team that defeated Colorado Mines in the head-to-head, then went on to top #1 Regis in double-overtime for an RMAC Championship title - did not get a bid to continue their season.

The Mavericks made a name for themselves in the school's history books. They finished with a 13-5-3 season and had five athletes named to the All-RMAC team - including goalie of the year Micah Conrads.

CMU earned their way into the conference tournament and were quick to compete with the best of them. They took their first win in a shootout fashion, followed it with a come-from-behind victory in the semis, then took down #1 Regis to become the champions.

In the end, it still wouldn't be enough to continue their season, so, of course, the team was filled with mixed emotions.

"It's pretty disappointing, but at the end of the day we have the memory, and we have a trophy and so they can't take that away from us," said head coach Josh Pittman. "Whatever they decide the criteria is to make the NCAA tournament, it's kind of a shame they don't consider us one of the top 35 teams in the country. because there's no question we are."

"We're going to enjoy our time off first, and then come back hard in the spring," said junior Tim Hofer. "We're going to work as hard as we've ever worked so we can get into the NCAA tournament so we don't have to feel this pain again."
