GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Colorado Mesa's softball team returned home following a series split on the road against Fort Lewis. They hosted Dixie State for a non-conference game, but the visitors had their way in a doubleheader sweep.

The Red Storm kept Mesa quiet for five innings in game one. Meanwhile they put up three runs to ultimately settle on a 3-1 win.

The Mavericks started stronger in game two but wouldn't end on the same note. Sarah Phillis scored the first run of the game, but Dixie came back strong in the fifth and seventh innings with three runs in each. They walked away with a 6-2 win and the series sweep.

Colorado Mesa hosts RMAC opponent Western New Mexico April 12-13.
