CMU Volleyball: Mavs open play at home with a win over Fort Lewis

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Colorado Mesa hosted Fort Lewis for their home opener Tuesday night. They entered the game 8-2 but tacked on another tally to the win column after a win through four sets.

Though the Mavs held the lead through the majority of the first set, the Skyhawks were quick to catch up, tying it at 17 and pulling ahead for the win.

In the second set, the home team got back on track dishing out 14 kills, defeating Fort Lewis 25-18. Then in the third, they really took off. They tacked on nine straight point to jump out to the big lead and once again finished off the Skyhawks.

CMU improves to 2-1 in RMAC play while FLC drops to 1-2 in the conference.

Melissa Hess was a huge contributor all night. She recorded 19 points and 17 kills.
