GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The 2013 preseason coaches poll ranks the Lady Mavericks volleyball team seventh, but the squad is ready to defy the odds.

The team starts their 2013 season September 6th, and that means it's time for two-a-days.

Like any team that doesn't go all the way to the top, the Mavs are ready to redeem themselves. Though they only have one returning senior, the rest of the squad has no worries about what they can accomplish.

"We're expecting to win a lot of games this year," said junior MB Melissa Hess. "We have a young team but we have a lot of potential and we're a really dominant team, and we have a lot of physical ability."

"We're just expecting to get better than we were last year, kind of a sour taste in our mouth losing first round of the RMAC last year," said Dave Fleming, head coach. "We're picked seventh this year. We think we're better than that so we 're going to get out here and try to prove it."
