GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Sunday's game between the Grand Junction Rockies and Helena Brewers was postponed due to rain, so the two picked up a doubleheader Monday night.
In game one, it was a back-and-forth fight into extra innings. Raimel Tapia put out his fifth home run of the season to start off Grand Junction's scoring. Ryan McMahon wrapped up the fun with two RBI to get the 3-2 win in eight innings.
Game two was a completely different story. The Helena Brewers only scored in two innings, but those two innings were the 16-3 difference.
Helmis Rodriguez gave up five runs in the third inning. The Rockies could only respond with one in the fourth. Then the top of the sixth rolled around and the Rockies bullpen couldn't produce.
Billy Waltrip allowed four walks before Scott Firth came in as the reliever, but he wouldn't perform much better as the Brewers went on to put up 11 in the sixth.
Grand Junction now sits at 7-18. They will wrap up their homestand Tuesday at 7:05 against the Helena Brewers.
