GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The Grand Junction Rockies season has come to a close. Once again the team fell in the South Division championship series, this one in game three against the Idaho Falls Chukars.
What started off a strong day with the Rockies defeating the Chukars in game two 7-1, ended on a game three loss 5-2. Idaho Falls moves on to face the Helena Brewers in the Pioneer League championship while Grand Junction gets knocked out of the post-season.
Offensively, the Rockies got off to a hot start. Ryan McMahon put out a two-run home run that boosted the team's momentum in the first inning. However, the Chukars wouldn't be too far behind on the scoring train. They added a homer of their own and by the fourth, they took the lead.
Meanwhile, Grand Junction had no luck on offense. They couldn't get past the pitching coming from the visitors, and they ended with just two hits and ten strikeouts.
