GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction Rockies looked to continue their hot play into August by attempting to sweep the Idaho Falls Chukars. Javier Palacios looked ready to answer the call early, striking out Chukars early and often to accrue seven K's in six innings.
Palacios was rolling but unfortunately for the Rockies so was Chukars pitcher Mike Jefferys. Jefferys matched Palacios pitch for pitch in the early going, ending up with seven K's as well.
Palacios and Jefferys kept chukin' late into the night, Jefferys only gave up one earned run in six innings, while Palacios fell apart a bit late, giving up four earned runs in his six innings of work.
The Rockies fall 12 to 1, they'll head to Billings, Montana on Monday.
