GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - After pulling off two consecutive wins in extra innings on the road at Orem, the Rockies failed to do it again Sunday night.
Grand Junction got on the board in the first inning when Correlle Prime's grounder to shortstop was overthrown at first base, allowing Terry McClure to score.
Orem tied it up in the fourth inning, and the score remained 1-1 until the ninth when Ryan Dalton smashed a two run homer to left field.
The Rockies got the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, but grounded into a double play.
The Orem Owlz won 3-1.
After the game, the team announced that catcher Jose Briceno had been promoted to Single A Asheville.
With the team, Briceno hit .328 with 24 RBI's and 7 home runs.
