GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Aside from a Hamlet Marte three-run homer in the bottom of the third that put the Rockies up 3-2, Grand Junction struggled to get on base in Sunday's 7-5 loss to Helena.
Carlos Polanco was looking for a team-high fourth win of the season, but ran into trouble in the third and fourth innings. He takes the loss, giving up 10 hits and four earned runs.
The Rockies entered the ninth inning down 7-3, but got the lead-off man on when Randy Reyes was hit by a pitch.
Luis Castro recorded the first out of the inning when he grounded into a fielder's choice, but Kevin Padlo doubled to left field to score the run, making it a 7-4 game.
Wesley Jones grounded out to short for out number two. Max George followed him with a single into left that scored Padlo.
Terry McClure represented the tying run, but sent a chopper to third, and despite a dive into first, was called for the final out of the game.
The Rockies are now 15-12, still in a tie for second in the Pioneer South with Idaho Falls, and three back of Orem.
