Live from the final day of the 2012 Western Zones

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The final day of 2012 Western Zones came to an exciting finish with Team Colorado claiming the overall lead.

Their swimmers placed top three in many of the races, while Pacific Swimming of California battled to do the same. From the beginning, it was a race between the two teams for who would take the overall team win.

It came down to the day four of the competition to determine the winner. Colorado took it by 13.5 points with a score of 1,543 compared to Pacific's 1,536.5. Team Colorado takes their first win since 1999 in the Age Group Championships.

11 states participating
724 swimmers
36,000 sheets of paper printed
52 officials
16,000+ miles travelled
400 hotel rooms
1,500 bottles of water consumed
$1.5 millon dollar economic impact for Grand Junction
500 volunteers
