GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - On Thursday, the top-seeded Mesa Mavericks fell in their first game of the RMAC tournament, so they went into day two facing elimination.
They took on the number five seed, Metro State, looking to start fresh and get the ball rolling in the right direction. After three innings, they did just that, taking the 5-0 lead and then adding a few more.
RMAC pitcher of the year Matt Williams pitched through all nine innings of the shut out 8-0 victory.
New Mexico Highlands faced the same Colorado Mines team that beat Mesa the day before, but the Orediggers didn't have the same luck today. The Cowboys knocked in 10 runs and beat Mines 10-3.
Regis jumped all over CSU Pueblo, scoring 4 runs in the first 4 innings. But the Rangers couldn't hold on to their lead, and after giving up 4 runs in the 8th the Rangers fell 6-5.
