MONTROSE - When Montrose senior Quarterback Kirk English played the entire first game of the season against Glenwood, nobody batted an eye. This is the third year English has been called on to do that. But he's never done it with a broken hand until last week when the Indians lost their season opener 31-26 to state ranked Glenwood.

An x-ray and one hand cast later, and English was on the sidelines on Friday with a jersey on but no pads underneath. His team would pick him up. Montrose(1-1) rolled the Piedra Vista Panthers(N.M) 42-0 to bounce back from their week one loss.

Jordan Passehl had a 70 yard touchdown run called back on the Indains first posession. The Panthers would force a fourth down, which would only lead to a Passehl 79 yard run on a botched punt and a 7-0 Montrose lead. Passehl had three scores on the night.

He and Glayden Berry controlled the clock with their work on the ground. Berry stretched the lead to 14-0 with a three yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter.

Nate Robertson threw an 80 yard touchdown, filling in for the injured English.

Montrose has a bye next week, and return to action Friday, September 12th at Adams City.
