Broncos, Raiders Relieved By Marshall's Suspension

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - The Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos figure they both caught a break with wide receiver Brandon Marshall's suspension.

The Raiders don't have to face the Broncos' superstar in their opener Monday night, and the Broncos will be without their playmaker for only one game.

Marshall was originally assessed a three-game penalty for violating the league's personal conduct code with the possibility of reducing it to two games if he stayed out of trouble and in touch with a counselor.

Marshall, however, successfully appealed his punishment, which was reduced to one game and two paychecks, totaling $52,352.

Darrell Jackson is slated to start in Marshall's flanker spot with rookie Eddie Royal starting at split end.
