Warriors Air It Out To Beat Horizon

GRAND JUNCTION - One week after being humiliated by one of the best teams in the state the Central Warriors made a statement to the tune of a 24-15 win over the Horizon Hawks on Friday night.

The game was a scoreless tie until the final 34 seconds of the opening quarter when fans got their first look at new quarterback Holden Reed's powerful arm. He aired out a bomb to a streaking Blaine Jackson for a 72 yard touchdown pass that gave Central the 7-0.

The big scoring plays continued in the second quarter when the Warriors converted a 2nd and 31 into a 42 yard touchdown run by Nolan Curtis to take a 14-6 lead.

With six seconds left in the third quarter Central struck again. Reed threw a backwards pass to Kame in the flat who then threw downfield to a wide open Blaine Jackson for six more and a 24-9 lead.

The double pass was setup by good Warriors special teams and defense. The Warriors downed a punt on the one yard line and forced Horizon to punt from out of their own endzone. The very next play was the double pass touchdown.

Central hits the road again next weekend when they visit Gateway on Friday night.
