Wildcats Softball Wins First Game With New Coach

GRAND JUNCTION - The Fruita Monument Wildcats quickly erased a one run deficit to defeat the Grand Junction Tigers 5-1 on Tuesday night at Mesa State College.

The Wildcats learned just hours before the game began that head softball coach Billy Johnson and assistant coach Kevin Chirdon were being released by the District from their responsibilities with the softball team.

Tracy Burke was handed the reigns as the school's new head coach. Burke won her opening game on Tuesday night and will remain the team's head coach on a permanent basis.
