ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Broncos tailback Andre Hall practiced with a heavy heart Thursday.
His mom, Carol Barthel, died Monday from complications of diabetes just hours before the Broncos' game in Oakland. Hall elected to play, rushing for 61 yards on 10 carries in Denver's 41-14 rout.
Hall said he wanted to remain in Florida a few extra days to grieve with his family, but his mother wouldn't have wanted that. He says he'll also play Sunday against San Diego and then head back home to St. Petersburg, Florida, for his mom's funeral the following day.
The 26-year-old Hall said his mother had been ill since training camp, losing both of her legs to amputations.
