Warriors Outlast Tigers In Rivalry Game

GRAND JUNCTION - The Central Warriors softball team held off a late comeback by the Grand Junction Tigers to get a big 13-5 win in Southwestern League play.

The Warriors extended their lead to 7-1 off Brittany Hoppe's run scoring hit to left-center field in the bottom of the fifth inning. The two Tigers' outfielders chasing down Hoppe's high fly collided in the alley which allowed Hoppe to get all the way to third on the hit.

The Tigers would cut the lead in half in the sixth inning thanks in part to a two-run triple to right field by Paula Lage.

But ultimately the Warriors would keep the bats hot to get the win.
