Tigers Running Back: "We'll Beat Fruita This Weekend"

GRAND JUNCTION - It has been five years since the Fruita Monument Wildcats have won in their annual rivalry game against the Grand Junction Tigers, and the Tigers want to keep things that way.

Grand Junction (0-3) has understandabley gotten off to a rough start this season with a brand new coach, a brand new system, and a freshman quarterback behind center. But head coach Robbie Owens knows that the team can pick up a lot of momentum and confidence with a good showing against the Wildcats on Friday night.

"Obviously a win against anybody would be huge right now and a win against Fruita would be a huge confidence boost," Owens said. "Any type of success, you know, I don't even care if its on the scoreboard right now. We've just got to put together a good product on the field."

The Tigers starting running back Justin Trujillo took it one step further by confidently sharing that the Tigers will keep the winning streak against Fruita going.

"We need to win the league and not even think about these last games that we lost," Trujillo said. "We'll beat Fruita this weekend."

Kickoff between the arch rivals is scheduled for 7:00 on Friday night at Stocker Stadium.
