Fruita Monument Soccer Coach Resigns

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - The boys soccer coach at Fruita Monument High School has resigned, citing personal reasons.

Wildcat coach Dan McKee stepped down Wednesday, but told the Daily Sentinel newspaper in Grand Junction that he was not leaving due to any team-related issues.

McKee had taken over as head coach just last year. The Wildcats went 9-5-1 in his first season, and are 2-4-1 so far this season.

McKee says he sees great potential in the players and wishes them the best.

Fruita Monument Athletic Director Pat Noland will take over for McKee until an interim coach is named. McKee's resignation comes one week after softball coach Billy Johnson was dismissed.

School District 51 officials won't comment on the reason for that move.
