Mavs In Third After Opening Round Of Invite

GRAND JUNCTION - The Mesa State women's golf team shot a total team score of 337 on Monday at the opening round of the Maverick Fall Invitational at Tiara Rado Golf Club. The Lady-Mavs are third overall.

Jennifer Hilts led the Mavs with an opening round score of 82 which is tied for second, two strokes behind Kiley Johansen of Fort Hays State.

Afton Balling tied for a second round best 39 to finish tied for fifth at 83. Senior Sadie Peavler is tied for 14th, only five strokes behind the leader at 85.

Jessica Berve finished with a score of 87 while Dana Anderson was fifth for Mesa with a score of 97, 43rd overall.

Fort Hays State leads the overall team standings with an opening round of 331 followed by Western New Mexico's 333.

Following behind Mesa State is Montana State Billings in fourth at 345, Adams State and Nebraska-Kearney are tied at 351, Chadron State sits at 364, CSU-Pueblo is eighth with a score of 367, Regis University is at 368, and Colorado Christian rounds out the top ten with a score of 385.

Western New Mexico's Amanda Bjork and Brittany Gose-DeMent are tied with Hilts for second.

The second and final round of the Invitational begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 in the morning at Tiara Rado.
