GRAND JUNCTION - It didn't take long for the second ranked Palisade Bulldogs to dispatch of number five Steamboat Springs on Thursday night at Stocker Stadium in a 39-14 victory.
In the first four minutes of the game the Bulldogs tallied a 16-0 lead thanks to a 42 yard touchdown pass from Jake Appling to Matt Young, a sack by Zach Adair for a safety, and an Aaron Wagler 41 yard touchdown run.
Wagler added a second 41 yard touchdown run in the second quarter to push the Bulldogs lead to 22-0. Wagler finished the night with 170 yards rushing on 16 carries for two touchdowns.
Cody Blackmon was successful from 24 yards for a field goal just before the end of the first half to boost the lead to 25-0.
Travis Fehlman rushed for a second half touchdown to go with his 131 yards rushing in the game on 19 carries. The Bulldogs totaled over 370 yards rushing as a team against the Sailors (4-1).
Appling totaled 109 yards (72 passing, 37 rushings) and 2 touchdowns. Young had three receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Palisade (6-0) returns to action on Friday, October 3 for the school's homecoming game against Delta at 8:00 p.m. at Stocker Stadium.
