Junction Sweeps Weekend Series, Waits To Hear Playoff Fortunes

GRAND JUNCTION - Grand Junction knew they were on the outside looking in. Central and Fruita finished in the top two spots in the Southwestern League, claiming this season's automatic playoff bids. As a result the Tigers were fighting this weekend for one of five remaining at-large positions in the state playoffs.

They made their case.

Grand Junction swept Friday's double header against Cortez and swept Saturday's series with Durango with 21-7 and 6-2 wins against the Demons.

Senior Elena Arrieta earned the win in her final home game for the Tigers.

Grand Junction will now wait to see if their fate includes a trip to the 2008 post season.
