GRAND JUNCTION - Two fumbles inside the opponents five yard line kept the Fruita Monument Wildcats out of the endzone in the first half of a 38-6 loss on Thursday night to Douglas County.
The first of the Wildcats fumbles happened at the Douglas County one yard line when the Wildcats were trailing 14-0. On the very next play the Huskies completed a 99 yard touchdown pass to extend the lead 21-0.
The Wildcats would march right back down field before fumbling the ball again at the Huskies three yard line.
The Wildcats next game is a critical Southwestern Conference game against the Montrose Indians on Friday, October 17 at Stocker Stadium.
