Mesa Hands Thunderwolves Beatdown In First Game In 24 Years

GRAND JUNCTION - The Mesa State Mavericks wore the gold and maroon throwback jerseys to welcome the CSU Thunderwolves back to the football scene in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The welcome was anything but warm.

Bobby Coy rushed for 237 yards and Maurice Manley scored two touchdowns as Mesa State(5-2)(5-0) disposed of CSU Pueblo(2-4)(1-4) 26-3 Saturday night at Stocker Stadium.

The Mavs offense rushed for 303 total yards, while the defense held the Thunderwolves to 75 yards on the ground and 204 yards of total offense.

The Mavs have won eight straight RMAC games at Stocker Stadium.

The win comes before a short week. The Mavs will welcome arch-rival Western State to Stocker Stadium on Thursday for the "Black-Out."
