FRUITA, Colo. - Rex Clemons became the first player in the class of 2009 to sign a national letter of intent to play baseball with the Mesa State Mavericks on Friday afternoon.

Clemons was recruited by several junior colleges across the country as well as a few NCAA Division I schools, namely the University of New Mexico, New Mexico State, and the University of Southern California.

Clemons will be a pitcher for the Mavs where he will continue to play close to home in front of family and friends.
