Mesa State Women Lose, Men Get First Win

GOLDEN, Colo - The Mesa State men's basketball team got its first win of the 2008-2007 season on Saturday, defeating Caldwell 83-52 at the Colorado School of Mines Tipoff Classic.

The Mavericks (1-2) were led by Sean Flohr with 17 points, followed by four other players that each scored 10.

The team is off until Friday when they make their home debut, hosting Colorado College in Brownson Arena at 8:00 pm.

DURANGO, Colo - The Mesa State women's basketball team fell to 0-2 after losing 92-70 to Angelo State at the Fort Lewis Tournament on Saturday.

Alaina Brennan scored 16 points in just 24 minutes for the Mavs. Erin Richardson had 12 and Hannah Breidel scored 10 in the losing effort. As a team, Mesa State shot just 37% from the field.

Johnson & Wales University (Colo.) will come to Brownson Arena when the Mavericks play their home opener, Friday at 6:00 pm.
