GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Mesa State Mavericks women's basketball team played its first home game of the season and got its first win of the season.
The Mavericks (1-3) got 23 points from Heather Habekost who was 8-11 from the field (1-1 from 3-point range) in just 23 minutes.
They host Dominican University on Saturday.
The Mesa State men got their second straight win, opening their home season with a 40-point win over the Colorado College Tigers.
The Mavericks (2-2) had four players in double figures, led by Kurt Bangle with 16 in teh 91-51 win.
The Mesa men host Johnson & Wales on Saturday.
