GRAND JUNCTION - The Central Warriors girl's basketball team has endured plenty of adversity stemming from the dismissal of former Warriors head coach Matt Lindholm last season.

But the players have fought through the adversity and pulled together as a close knit group of teammates. With a new head coach, and a new sense of optimism surrounding the 2008-2009 season, the Warriors are ready to write a new chapter in the team's history.

Central wrote the first pages of that new chapter on Tuesday night by defeating the Rifle Bears 79-48 in the season opening game successfuly defending the Warriors' number seven ranking in the state in the process.
