FRUITA, Colo - Saturday was the third and final day of the 2008 Fruita Invitational girls basketball tournament began with Grand Junction against Thunderridge, followed by Palisade versus Columbine, Central versus Battle Mountain and concluded with Fruita Monument against Carbon (UT).
In the first game Emily Dohm led the Tigers with 6 points, followed by Fawn Brady in a losing effort. Thunderridge defeated Grand Junction 87-26 behind 26 points from Rachel Messerand 22 points by Brooke Jelniker.
In game two, Palisade scored just 9 points in the first period, but picked up the scoring through the next three Kendra Barnes' 15 points. However Columbine wone 65-51, led by Randee Hayes with 23 points.
The Central Warriors were the only local team to win on the final day. Amy Kame had a huge day with 32 points, leading Central to a 78-10 win over Battle Mountain.
In the final game, Fruita Monument fell to Carbon (UT) 62-38. The Wildcats were led by Taylor Johnson's 12 points and Mary McGee's 9 points. Julia Potts scored 21 to lead the Dinos.
