GRAND JUNCTION - Mark Stern and Tyler Winder hit back-to-back three pointers in the fourth quarter to give the Grand Junction Tigers a 31 point lead in the fourt quarter of a 80-56 win over the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers on Friday night.
The lead was as little as eight points in the third quarter, but that is when Everett Robinson and Geoff Baldwin took over. Robinson finished the game with a game high 29 points, while Baldwin finished with 17 in the win. Tommy Powers added nine points off the bench for the Tigers.
The Tigers begin Southwestern League play with a 1-0 record.
The Grand Junction girl's team also started off SWL play with a comfortable victory over the Panthers. The lady Tigers won by 11, 42-31 on Friday night.
Both the boys and girls teams will be back on home court on Saturday afternoon against the Durango Demons. The girls game starts at noon with the boys game directly following.
