GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Grand Junction boys and girls teams both won over Cortez on Friday night. On Saturday, the both beat the Durango Demons.
In the boys game, the tigers surrendered a first half lead and went to the locker room tied at 24. The second half remained neck and neck but the Tigers managed to pull off a 42-41 win, improving to 2-0 in the Southwestern League.
The Grand Junction girls got off to a rough start this season, but have turned things around recently. The Demons were without star player Kat Garcia (out with a high ankle sprain) on Saturday and the Tigers took full advantage.
Paula Lage led the Tigers with 16 points, followed by Joei Ritter with 14 en route to a 51-29 win. The girls team is 7-7 overall and 2-0 in league play.
