GRAND JUNCTION - It took eight weeks for the Mesa State Mavericks women's basketball team to break out of its losing streak, but it happened tonight with a dominant 68-39 win over New Mexico Highlands.
The win is the Lady-Mav's fourth of the season and only their first in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
Hannah Breidell led the Mavs with 13 points, and Jennifer Landers scored 11 points. Stephanie Delgado finished with a double-double by scoring 11 and grabbing 11 rebounds.
The loss is Highlands ninth straight in RMAC play.
Ryan Matthews led the Mesa State men's team with 23 points as the Mavs held on for a three point win over New Mexico Highlands 68-65.
Jase Herl added 15 points in the win while Jake Swarzendruber scored 9 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
