Fruita Splits With Montrose

FRUITA, Colo - The Fuita Monument boys lost at home to Grand Junction on Friday but bounced back with a home victory over Montrose on Saturday.

The Wildcats led at halftime but the Indians scored the first three baskets of the seconde half and took a 1-point lead. Fruita responded behind Alex Mende's 17 points and won 66-61, Nathan Robertson matched that with 17 for Montrose.

The Montrose girls beat Central in overtime on Friday. They continued their winning streak at Fruita on Saturday. Kaylee Walker led the Indians with 18 points and Hannah Bowden added 17 points in the 51-33 win.

The Wildcats got 12 points from Sarah Hensley. Taylor Johnson and Mary McGee each added six points.
