Mavs Looking Forward To Season Opener

GRAND JUNCTION - The ground hog says that there are still six more weeks of winter left this year. But the Mesa State baseball team thinks otherwise.

With another beautiful day gracing the Grand Valley on Tuesday afternoon, the Mavericks baseball team was at Bergman Field hard at practice in preparation for the season opening series this weekend against Grand Canyon University in Arizona.

Mavs head coach Chris Hanks already knows which pitchers will be the starters in this weekends series as ace Chris Carma returns to the mound for the series opener. The game 2 starter will be Kevin Chritz while Scott Bachman will start in game 3. Andy Williams will close out the series as the game 4 starter.

The Mavs series against the 'Lopes begins on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Games two and three will be played on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m., and the series finale will be played at noon on Sunday.
