Wildcats Wear Out Down The Stretch In Loss

FRUITA, Colo. - The Fruita Monument boy's basketball team had a chance to mix up the top of the Southwestern League standings with a win on Friday night but wore out down the stretch in a 42-31 loss to the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers.

Alex Mende scored 11 points for the Wildcats and Brett Nankervis added seven points in the loss.

Micah Conrads was the Panthers leading scorer with a game high 17 points in the win.

Conrads left the game early in the fourth quarter after rolling his ankle. He was able to return after it was taped up to help his team to victory.

The Wildcats host the Durango Demons on Saturday afternoon, while the Cortez Panthers visit the Central Warriors in a battle for first place in the SWL.
