Cory Toddhunter hit two homeruns as the Mesa State baseball team began the 2009 season with a win over Grand Canyon University 16-11 on Friday afternoon.
T.J. Butch came on in relief for the Mavs and picked up the win.
Mesa State's season continues on Saturday with a double-header against Grand Canyon, and the four game series comes to a close with a Sunday afternoon game.
