CLIFTON, Colo - The Central High School boys basketball team rebounded from a huge loss to Grand Junction last Tuesday when they closed out the 2009 regular season with a win on Friday.
Seniors Clay Kame and Kahler Grandbouche each scored 20 points on senior night, leading the Warriors to a 69-62 win over the Montrose Indians.
Nathan Robertson led all scores with 26 for Montrose in the seven point loss.
The Montrose girls had lost just one game this season coming into the regular season finale. They clinched the Southwestern League title last Tuesday by beating Fruita Monument, but wanted to close out with a win and improve their playoff standings. The Central girls had a different plan, revenge.
The Indians beat the Warriors when they played in Montrose. The Warriors wanted payback on their home floor.
The Indians nearly spoiled Central's senior night. Hannah Bowden scored 14 for Montrose. But Amy Kame scored 18 including a three-point play to give the Warriors a two-point lead down the stretch. Central turned the two-point lead into a four-point win, 40-36.
