Mesa Men Win; Women Fall on Senior Night

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Mesa State men's basketball team said goodbye to their senior class with a win over Adams State on Saturday.

Senior Ryan Mathews led the Mavericks with 21 points and fellow senior Jake Swartzendruber added 14 in the 69-56 win. The Mavericks finish the 2009 regular season next weekend at New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo.

The Mesa State women said goodbye to their seniors as well as Head Coach Timi Brown who will be leaving at the end of the season.

The Mavericks and Grizzlies were tied at 55 at the end of regulation. But Adams State pulled away in overtime for the win.

Senior Stephanie Delgado led the team with 17 points. Sophomore Hannah Breidel added 15 for the Mavericks in a 71-67 loss.
