DENVER (AP) - The Denver Nuggets say they've suspended Carmelo Anthony for one game following an "in-game transgression" Sunday against Indiana.
Rex Chapman, vice president of player personnel for the Nuggets, didn't elaborate Monday on what the transgression was. But he said the team has a code of conduct that it takes very seriously, and that Anthony "knows this and regrets what happened."
Chapman says Anthony is a competitive person and made a "poor decision in the heat of the moment." He declined to comment further.
Anthony will miss Denver's game at Detroit Tuesday night, but will return to the lineup for Thursday's game against Portland.
Earlier Monday, team spokesman Eric Sebastian said Anthony would miss tonight's game because of a personal matter he had to deal with in Denver.
